  3. @Peter, I completely agree. It is impossible for computers to understand our emotions. Given the fact that they do not have our five main senses, they are unable to respond in the way that humans do.

  4. Computers will never have the full capability of the human mind because computers only gather information when it is programmed into the hard-drive by humans. Therefore, since humans are constantly gaining ideas and technology, computers are unable to keep up with the human species.

  5. Trying to be unique is not the problem for us. We are all very unique people but it seems as though we are too lazy too continue too be unique. Eventually we end up copying something that has already been done.

  6. @Macy, Asia isn't going to begin taking us over. They already have. Without Asia and the middle east, we would be completely lost. Just look at the chaos that the rebellions in the middle east have caused us.

  7. @Maria- I think it really is scary how much EVERYBODY relys on technology. As teenagers now and days, we have grown up on a world of technology and can't even remember a world without technology. We could see major problems in the future with technology and problems with it. It could even cause our generation to become lost without it, if something ever happened to it.

  8. @Peter- I disagree. A computer is not really a 'complicated brain.' It really isn't a brain at all. It cannot function on its own. In everything a computer does, a human is behind it somehow.

  9. @Maria & Katie- I agree with both of you. But I don't think that the use of technology has gotten out of control. We use it in the classroom, research, we obviously need it for homework all the time. It does show some good. Sure, it is a little out of hand with all the texting, facebooking, etc. I just think that technology has caused us to evolve the way that we have and helps more than it hurts us-even if it is by just a little bit.

  10. @Amanda- you bring up the point about video games being educational and games on the Wii where you can actually play sports. Well, I think that most kids, especially our age, arn't going to choose the most educational games over the ones the they get to destroy stuff (A.K.A. COD). Our generation has become so unsensitzed to gore, that is what they choose. And just because the Wii has sports, doesn't mean that people are actually gonna stand up and get into them. They can play just as fine sitting down, which comes back to the fact that technology just makes us really lazy.

  11. I don't believe that Asia, etc. will take us over, but they could end up stealing alot of our jobs. People don't get picked for things unless they really stand out from the rest of the crowd. But, all of these other countries will do the exact same job for loads cheaper. That's hard to compete with.

  12. Computers do not have emotions. Therefore, they cannot create artwork.
However, we do have to keep in mind that people have absolute control over computers. Therefore, they will not take over the world in a classic Terminator sense. We have to be mindful, that even though the steam engine overtook the slave, there was still a place in the world for miners and mechanics! The same goes. As rulers of the technology, we are responsible for its upkeep, providing jobs.
Jobs will be outsourced to the rest of the world if we don't do anything about it! People in Asia are just as capable if not more of creative thought. Tariffs!!
Abby, you said that videogames like Call of Duty are degenerating our society. I want you to know that the smart kids will often seek smart games. There is this little game called Portal that is a box office success that is all about making people think, not to mention the line of successful Professor Layton and Brain Age games for the D.S. Those are also games that challenge peoples' minds. It's not like everyone is going to seek out smart entertainment! (Just look at teens watching Disney over a movie like Good Will Hunting!)
